Sometimes the best advice you can offer someone is simply an open ear.

An Active Listener Here!
It is often more difficult to listen without judgement, interruption, or personal commentary. This is why active listening is a fabulous way to volunteer genuine care and authentic friendship, in a most tangible package.
Your friend who has a nagging problem, the elderly stranger in the hospital without any family visiting, the child who repeats the same story a million times over with more enthusiasm than the last.
The last time I did this for someone, the response ~ “Thank you Deb, I feel so much better now!” What had I done? What did I say? Nothing! Yet, this person exclaimed they felt “better,” despite the fact I gave them absolutely no advice!
People pay therapist and coaches a lot of money to sit and listen for fifty minutes at a time.
Why? Because family and friends are too busy being being connected to every inhuman gadget and living in their future to do list, to sit still long enough to actively listen and be present in the now moment. Does that seem upside down to you?
Volunteer a non-judgemental ear to someone today, and listen to the sound of your own voice speaking powerful words you’ve been waiting to anxiously hear!

Don’t you want to feel the love? Of course!
- How much love can you give away in 2 minutes?
- How much love would you like to receive all day long?

Spread the Love!
“The word love goes back to the very roots of the English language. Old English lufu is related to Old Frisian luve, Old High German luba, Gothic lubo. There is a cognate, lof, in early forms of the Scandinavian languages. The Indo-European root is also behind Latin lubet ‘it is pleasing’ and lubido ‘desire’. The word is recorded from the earliest English writings in the 8th century. ”
So basically…love is desiring that which is most pleasing.
Be a love volunteer!
How? Bring something pleasing from your mouth to their ears: to the next person you meet on the street, talk to on the train, wave at walking into work, chat on the cell with, e-email with enthusiasm.
- A kind compliment. ” you look so young today!”
- A bit of laughter, “let’s not take life too seriously, none of us will get out alive anyway!”
- A silly smile, “Just passing on from my kids to you!”
Never forget laughter - it is the most effective medicine for anything - without any side effects”:)
How can YOU be a FEEL the LOVE volunteer today?
blessings,
deb:)

The Wrap it Up Volunteer!
Okay - just because the gift giving season is over - doesn’t mean you have to stop wrapping things for people!

How do you feel when you get a gift all wrapped in pretty paper with a matching bow? Absolutely fabulous! King or Queen of the day in every way!
It’s all good - those smiles received with the package attached, and the warm and fuzzy filled with love inside glow.
Why not volunteer some of that sunshine away in your day today?
How?
Wrap it up! Anything you send or give to anyone, anywhere - can be transformed into a dazzle of volunteer happiness with a little left over gift wrapping paper and a bow.
- Donating some magazines to your doctors office - wrap it up!
Cleaning closets and donating some of those clothes to a friend - wrap it up!
Sending a package to a customer for work - wrap it up!
For virtually no time or money, you can make the ordinary item an extraordinary volunteer of good feeling which encourages someone else to smile.
And…that someone else will most assuredly be YOU, too.
How can you be a wrap it up volunteer today?

How Can I Volunteer Through Basic US Mail?
The upside down idea you may have had that volunteering hinges on quantity, is an upside down idea indeed!
It is the spirit of giving something away, great or small, without expecting anything in return, which gives value to your volunteer effort.
You ALWAYS get more than you receive, when you give away freely from the sincere depths of your heart.
So how does this all tie into the United States mail?
Do you send any mail? Pay any bills? Write anything to anyone through snail mail?
What small little thing do you already have, which you can insert into the envelope, or tape to the back of it, to help spread positive happy thinking?
A page from your motivational calendar, an old bookmark, a positive word from one of your magazines you can take 2 seconds to cut out? A happy business card, some left over party glitter, a sticky note with a big smile saying “thank you”?
How many people have you made happy now, besides yourself?
The mailman, the mail messenger, the gal or guy who opens the mail, and everyone along the way, and probably beyond that too. You could have made dozens of people happy by taking 2 minutes to volunteer through the US mail!
Volunteering your own special recipe of happiness is fun, quick, free, and a great way to be!
Throw perfume towards someone else, and you will most assuredly smell more fragrant yourself.
So….What’s your volunteer tip for the day?
blessings,
deb
